Our History
Shanahan Transportation Systems, Inc. was founded in 1988 by Robert E. Shanahan. Mr. Shanahan has been in the transportation and logistics industry since he graduated high school in 1950, working for the Katy Railroad. Robert served in the U.S. Army logistics core during the Korean War. Following his return home, he started working for Western Freight Consolidators, and then Cooper-Jarrett Freightways as a sales representative and Terminal Manager. Bob joined a local brokerage firm in 1980 until he founded Shanahan Transportation Systems with his son Tom.
Since then, we have held firm to our commitment to our customers and carrier partners to build long term relationships – some are still in place today. We never forget that our company is built on service to our customers. Today we boast one the most experienced sales and operational personnel in the industry. Our people are what set us apart, former traffic managers, directors, and operations staff with more than 20 years experience in the logistics industry. Each and every one of us Shanahan Transportation Systems is dedicated to the Shanahan philosophy of providing the service you need, when you need it.
